B&B Hotel Sado Setúbal

We ended up extending our stay because this is probably one of the best places to stay in Setúbal. The 360° city view from the hilltop is spectacular. Leonor greeted us, gave us a room with the best view, and shared tips about the hotel, the city, and better cafes. She knows her stuff, is professional, and clearly focused on customer service. The hotel itself is a marvel, built from an ancient castle, with halls and rooms finished in white oak panels.

The staff were friendly, and parking was good. It’s very quiet around here, with a great balcony view, especially at night. The location is really good.

The staff were good, but the bedrooms and the corridors could use some attention. Breakfast was poor, with horrible coffee and products that seemed outdated. After traveling for a while and staying at other B&Bs around Europe, I can say this was one of the worst breakfasts I’ve ever had.

The patio view was really nice, and the beds were comfortable. The AC worked well too. Still, the rooms are pretty basic and dated, even in the deluxe suite. There was no plug for the bathtub, so I could only shower. The parking garage door wouldn’t take key cards, and after ringing the bell a few times over five minutes with no answer from the receptionist, I had to walk back up the hill. There weren’t any AC outlets near the bed either, so I had to unplug the light to charge my phone overnight. The hotel is a bit out of the way, so you’ll want to drive or hitch a ride into the city center. The view from the hotel helped make up for that. It’s an OK place, but in my opinion it isn’t worth the price or the ★★★★ rating.
