Guest House Bocage

A fantastic bargain in the beautiful old town. Everything was spotless, and we even had a bath. The staff were SPECTACULAR. Special thanks to Claudia 🍸🍸🍸

Being in the center of the old town meant noise late at night. Parking on the street is available with pay and display, but it’s free between 7 pm and 9 am. Our room was clean and a good size, though the bath was a bit small. Breakfast was fairly basic, but it was included in the hotel price.

The historic city center is a great location, but the stay itself had quite a few frustrations. We’d asked about checking in early in a message with our reservation, yet when we arrived they acted as if they hadn’t seen it and told us to leave and return at the assigned time. They also wouldn’t keep our luggage, even though I saw them store other guests’ bags by the desk on several days. The room was okay, but the bed and pillows were so uncomfortable that both of us woke up sore. We’re side sleepers. The shower screen didn’t stop the water, so the bathroom floor was completely soaked after every shower. Breakfast staff were friendly, and the food had a decent enough selection, though nothing special. The coffee was among the worst we’ve had, and after trying it once we didn’t drink it during our six-night stay. The front desk staff only said “Bom dia” if we said it first, and there was no smile in their service. The location was the bright spot.

BLACK MOLD ALERT. I had allergies the whole time I was in the room. They refused to refund any of the cost, even though there’s obviously a health hazard. The toilet wasn’t cleaned either. They just put the “sanitized toilet” strip over it. See for yourself. There was urine and pubic hair from the previous guest on the seat when we arrived, and I had to clean it myself. Don’t stay here with these people.
