That roof terrace was a lovely way to spend our evenings, and the house and location made for a wonderful break. The accommodation had everything we needed, from comfortable, beautifully decorated rooms and plenty of space and storage to all the household utensils and facilities. Thanks for letting us stay. The house had everything I liked, from its charming little details and cleanliness to a fully equipped kitchen. The people were friendly too. After a week there, I found it really hard to leave.

Casa Margarida Azul sits on a hill in Silves’s historic old town. Its lovingly renovated rooms are modern and fully equipped, and the mattresses were wonderful. The air conditioning was simple to use and handled the changing temperatures easily. The real highlight for me was the big roof terrace and its lovely views. I could grill sea bream or robalo, then stretch out on a lounger, watch the storks’ aerial acrobatics, and sip a good red wine. Around the house, the old cobbled streets are peaceful, with cats warming themselves in the morning sun and elderly neighbors enjoying the warmth. It’s a quiet, old-world side of Portugal. Silves is well placed, with good options for self-catering and lots of restaurants where the service is friendly and mostly in English. The beautiful, seemingly endless beaches are only a short drive away.
