The location is great and the place was reasonably clean, but the staff could use more professionalism. I was told several times that the hostel was full even though it clearly wasn’t at capacity. They blamed a third-party booking site, but rooms are cleaned each day, so occupancy shouldn’t be a mystery. Once, they let me extend my stay, then six hours later asked me to change rooms because of their own scheduling error. Having to swipe the keycard four times just to get to your room gets old fast, even with the security in mind. It was an acceptable stay, but new management still has some kinks to work out before the place reaches its potential.

We booked for May 11-12 and received a pin code for the key lockbox, but it didn’t work. We tried calling the hostel and nobody answered. We have proof of the call attempts and video showing us there trying the code without success. We also tried the other lockboxes in case we had the wrong number, and looked for another entrance, a doorbell, or any posted help information. Nothing worked. After waiting a while, we had to leave and find another hotel, which cost almost double. The hostel has refused to refund us, saying the code worked the next day and calling us a no-show, but they haven’t provided proof. Do not stay here.

The staff guy makes his own beer, and it’s good! There’s also an award-winning restaurant inside the hostel, though I didn’t eat there. The place is lovely and quiet, with a nice price and a really good location. They even have a guitar there 🙏🙏 If you want somewhere to stay while enjoying Sintra, I’d suggest it!

I accidentally left my passport in the room when I checked out, and the staff went to the trouble of mailing it to France. The hostel was clean and very quiet, right in the heart of Sintra. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, the showers have hot water, and the electronic badges work with the safe. I definitely recommend it.

The view of the castle and palace is breathtaking, and the service was the best. I’ve stayed here twice, traveling from Australia, and I’ll be back again. The rooms are 5 star. Thankyou guys, you made my holiday complete.
