Hotel Expo Astoria

This hotel feels like more than a three-star place. The location is very good, the staff are pleasant, and breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Our room faced a wall, but we didn’t mind since we mainly used it to rest. That side was quieter and shady. The room was comfortable, with a large, clean bathroom.

I was pleased with my three-night stay. The location is great, and the rooms were clean, with a bathroom I really liked for its size. You can skip a day of cleaning and get a small room-service coupon, which was a lovely idea. Breakfast was good, though I would have liked more variety. All in all, a nice place to stay.

The staff are energetic, polite, and provide good service. They really want guests to enjoy their stay, and we liked them. Unfortunately, the rooms and shared areas are very worn, and the staff don’t have much to work with. The guest rooms seem to date from the 1990s and look aged and abused. I think the cleaners have tried hard, but there’s such a strong disinfectant smell that the room feels like a public restroom. We’d been there a while and could still smell the cleaning solution. There’s potential here, but at the moment it’s pretty sad.

The people working here are really good, and the hotel is very central. The place itself is limited, though. The rooms are quite small, with no fridge or proper place for luggage. The breakfast area is also tiny, with only enough room for one person to pass through the middle at a time, which is uncomfortable.
