Paço do Bispo Boutique House

The hotel is tucked away down an odd semi-industrial road, but inside the beautiful bishop's palace it feels wonderfully peaceful. We stayed in the reasonably priced penthouse, with its own lounge, galley kitchen and spa-style bathroom. Both hosts were helpful and accommodating. They even rescued my toiletries and kept them safe until I could return for them. Breakfast was mostly continental, though you could also have very crispy bacon and silky scrambled eggs. We spent the last couple of hours by the pool before the sensible midday checkout, with towels provided. A beautiful setting and a great experience with the hosts.

Set in a historic building surrounded by nature, this is a lovely place, especially for couples looking for a romantic, peaceful break. The owner clearly pays attention to the little things: soft, pleasant bedding, a large clean bathroom and a high, comfortable bed. The breakfast was stunning, unlike any I've had in Europe. If you're after somewhere special and quiet, this is the place.

We had the penthouse, and the room and bed felt absolutely luxurious and fantastic. The service was exquisite, the best we've had. We'd recommend staying here and would definitely come back. Thanks to the staff, you're amazing.

This lovely hotel is tucked into the hills on the way to Sintra, roughly halfway between Cascais and Sintra. It seems to have been part of an old village: the lounge was once the village chapel, and the hotel occupies an old mansion. The rooms are beautifully furnished in a classic style, with modern touches in the bathrooms. There's also a modern infinity pool looking out over the surrounding hills. After a long trip, the staff were just what we needed, kind and helpful, always with a smile. My wife and I will definitely return.
