Palace Hotel & SPA Termas do Bicanho

The spa was the one bright spot, though some of the pool features weren’t working. The location is good and the rooms are large, but they’re worn and poorly equipped. Dinner was poor, and breakfast was simply awful. The receptionist was the rudest we’ve ever encountered, with a sour, “pickled in vinegar” manner. If we hadn’t already paid, we’d have left. We won’t be coming back.

The room and pool area had great views, and dinner was delicious, so compliments to the cook. We came hoping for snow, but had to drive another 10 km to find it, and the road to the piste was closed. Breakfast was served in the room. It’s a nice hotel, professionally run by just a handful of staff. The pool table was incomplete, with some balls and cue tips missing.

I was generally satisfied during my six-night stay last year. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds and huge bathrooms. You do need a car, since the hotel is far from the cities. The thing that really put me off was finding ants on the breakfast buffet. I was disgusted.

I’ve visited a couple of times before and wasn’t all that impressed, but today was my best visit yet. The staff were kind and went out of their way to accommodate my Fibromyalgia symptoms, even though it’s an invisible disease. The facilities were very clean and disability friendly, and the Covid measures were really good. The spa piscina is excellent value and the therapy pool is great. The Jacuzzis and other jets run on timers, though you get used to that. Thanks to everyone working today, you helped me more than you know. I’ll share pictures soon.
