Monte das Estrelas

We stayed two nights in Minguete after someone recommended Monte das Estrelas, and found it peaceful and very comfortable. Vitor and Maria João were warm hosts and happy to help with our requests. Their suggested driving routes and restaurant tips were excellent. On our last day, we asked Maria João to pick up a loaf from their excellent local baker. She wouldn’t let us pay, and small gestures like that really make a difference. It was cold and wet at the end of March, so we didn’t fancy sleeping in the yurt, though it would be an amazing place in good weather. I highly recommend staying here. Michael

Maria and Vitor welcomed us warmly, even though our flight landed very late. We stayed as a couple for two lovely days at the beginning of October, and their kindness made the visit feel special. The accommodation near Tavira is beautiful, full of charm, and furnished with care. It was very clean, peaceful, and tucked into an idyllic mountain setting that’s great for relaxing or going for hikes nearby. You feel welcome right away. It has the soul of a true piece of Portugal, rather than the feel of an anonymous hotel. Highly recommended.

We stayed in one of the cabins, with its own dome for stargazing, and also found an old astronomical observatory on the property. Such a special feature. The facilities are new and very well kept. You’re close to Tavira but far enough out to enjoy the countryside, and the nearest beaches are about a 15-minute drive away. Víctor and María looked after every detail and made sure we were comfortable. They also suggested some spectacular beaches that suited our preferences perfectly. We loved everything and hope to come back soon.

Our best experience in a while. Monte das Estrelas is a fantastic place, surrounded by nature, with wonderful facilities and such a warm welcome. Five stars don’t seem enough for this place, where the stars themselves seem to greet you. Thank you. Augusto Oliveira.
