Residencial Marés

The rooftop patio was amazing, and the location is close to everything without being in a hectic area, right by the water and ferry. The rooms aren't especially big, but they have what you need, including a little mini fridge for storing things.

We stayed two nights in February 2026 in a double room with a river view. The location across from the Gilao River is great, with a lovely boardwalk and shops and restaurants just minutes away on foot. Staff were helpful whenever we needed them. The room photo made it look much larger than it was, though, and the bathroom was so small there was nowhere for toiletries. Breakfast was fresh each day, but the choices were limited. On our first morning there weren't any cups out. When we asked, the server brought one, then returned a few minutes later with several more.

We'd booked the wrong month by mistake, but Pedro at Reception went above and beyond to find us a room for two nights and arrange a refund for the incorrect booking. He was professional and extremely helpful. The hotel location was fantastic, and so were breakfast and dinner. We were very grateful to Pedro. Without his help, we wouldn't have had such a good time.

We had a wonderful four-day break at the Residencial Mares, and I’ll definitely return to Tavira and stay here again. The hotel has original features, and some rooms have lovely river views. My bedroom was very comfortable, with an excellent shower room. Breakfast was a large buffet with plenty to suit different tastes. I also ate at the excellent restaurant twice, and guests get a 10% discount. The hotel is ideally placed for walking into town and reaching the amenities, with the ferry just a few steps away.
