Estalagem de Santa Iria Hotel & Spa

The hotel is set in a beautiful park on the river island, a short walk from all the attractions in Tomar. The rooms are clean and nice, with balconies, some looking over the river and others over the park. Getting to the hotel parking by car is a little confusing: you need to drive over the bridge with a no-entry sign, though hotel guests are allowed. Breakfast was tasty and great apart from the lack of vegetables. The spa is just a small pool and a sauna, and you have to wear a hair cap in the pool, so don’t expect much. Still, it’s a beautiful location and I highly recommend it.

The heated indoor-outdoor pool was really relaxing, and the front desk staff were very accommodating when we arrived. Rooms were very nice, with an extremely comfortable mattress and a pleasant balcony. Breakfast came with an amazing view, though the choice was a bit limited. The location is calm and beautiful, right in the city centre.

Patricia at the front desk gave us such a warm welcome and pointed us to a restaurant we really liked for dinner. The room was a good size, clean, and had a little balcony overlooking the park and river. Breakfast was fresh, healthy, and even had lactose-free milk. The hotel is also well placed for walking to the castle and nearby restaurants. I’d happily recommend it for the friendly service and comfort.

The island setting in the river is hard to beat, and the grounds are stunning. Even during peak season, this place felt like an absolute haven, somehow even more serene than when we visited in spring. The air conditioning is quiet and set just right. Service is the best I’ve experienced at any hotel in Portugal, by far. This was our second visit, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.
