The host was friendly, and there was plenty of food, though some of it didn’t seem very fresh. Inside, the place felt like a thrift shop, packed with dated furniture and odds and ends. The bathroom was basic, but probably sufficient. The location was the biggest drawback: it’s up a steep hill, about a 15-minute climb from the railway station. Thank goodness there’s a taxi stand there. From the outside, the building looks hideous, like something from East Berlin before the Wall came down. Inside is better, at least.

I had a good stay, and the place worked well for me. Thanks, Mr Luis. I’ll be back again.

We slept really well in this quiet neighborhood. The beds were very comfortable, the water pressure was great, and there was plenty of hot water. The owners were some of the nicest people we met and worked hard to keep the apartment clean. The kitchen had what we needed for breakfast and coffee. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly come back. Just be ready for a steep, brutal walk up the hill. A taxi from the train station costs under €5 and is worth it. We didn’t mind walking down, and there’s a longer, pleasant route into the town center.

It’s casual, a bit like a hostel with private rooms. The photos on Booking don’t do the place any favors, but the rooms are clean, spacious and simple, with a very low price for the quality. The big, cozy suite would be my pick for a weekend away. It was the cheapest option I found in town and seems to stay that way. Breakfast is good value too. The owner is entertaining and knows a lot about world affairs.
