Hotel Golf Mar

The photos don't show what the rooms are really like. They look stuck in the 80s, with old furniture and no renovation. You have to pay far too much for one of the supposedly updated rooms, which still had mold in the bathroom and threadbare furniture. Breakfast is cheap, with very few choices.

The breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from, and I enjoyed the stay overall. The rooms are small but comfortable, though the lack of air conditioning cost them a star for me. They also didn't refill the shower gel, a small thing but one I noticed. Getting from the 12th floor to the lobby can be a nuisance with only two very small elevators. I can still easily recommend the hotel.

The rooftop terrace looks really nice, and the view is great. The hotel is clean and well maintained, and service at the pool was quick and good. The lifts are dreadful. Going from floor 11 to 1 took ages, so I used the stairs most of the time rather than wait 15+ minutes. Rooms are okay, but there's no air conditioning and the bathroom products are limited. Breakfast was enough, though there wasn't much on offer. The juice tasted like it came from a carton, and fresh juice would be better.

Breakfast was good, and the dining room has an amazing sea view, but there could be more variety and better options for different diets. More fruit and vegetables, gluten-free bread, and fresh orange juice instead of boxed juice would help. The pool area is spacious and lovely, especially the outdoor pool overlooking the sea. The location is amazing, with breathtaking views. The rooms, though, badly need maintenance. Furniture is outdated, and a bed on wheels felt more like a hospital bed than a hotel bed. The décor is quite cheesy, and there is no soundproofing, so you hear everything from neighboring rooms. A party in one room kept me awake until 3 a.m. I called reception at 1:40 a.m., but it wasn't resolved. With so little insulation, a stricter noise policy would be appreciated.
