Slide Surfcamp

I spent two weeks at Slide Surfcamp and had the best time. The crew made me feel included, and the beach break is right in front of the house. There’s plenty to do when you’re not surfing, with home-cooked meals, a pool, and a fun bar around the corner. I’m an intermediate surfer who likes stronger, bigger waves, and I’d recommend the camp whatever your level. They’ll make sure your needs are met.

This stretch of the Portuguese coast has its own feel, from the food and culture to the traditional architecture. I usually come in March or October and get plenty of sun and good swells. Compared with places like the Algarve, Lisbon, and Porto, the waves here are less crowded, so you can catch more and improve faster. After a long surf, it’s lovely to watch the sunset from the terrace and have a beer with the staff. Surf, eat, drink, sleep, repeat 🏄⚓ There are several surf spots around the surf house for different levels. The customized lessons help beginners get the basics, and Luís can take you to suitable sandbank waves based on the conditions, with lots of feedback to help you improve. The staff are all very friendly and keen to help with whatever you need. One of my best surf experiences in Portugal!

I had an epic day after renting a board here over the summer. The whole team was so friendly and gave me suggestions for spots. They also let me leave my bag and bike safely at the house while I surfed. I’d highly recommend stopping by to rent a board or take a lesson :)
