We had already paid for our stay, but when we arrived the elderly man at reception began yelling and insulting us. He refused to let us check in, saying he didn’t want “people like us” there and that we should never return. When we asked for our money back, he threatened to call the police, though I have no idea why. We still haven’t received a refund, and with nowhere else available, we ended up sleeping on the street. I’ve never been treated so rudely or hostilely in a place offering hospitality. I strongly advise travelers to book elsewhere. This man shouldn’t be working in this job and should be dismissed immediately.

Right in the center of Viana do Castelo, with lots of food options nearby. The room was nice and very clean, the bathroom was private, and the staff were really nice.

The owner is really kind. Our room had soft beds and a shower, which was all we needed. It’s a calm spot about a seven minute walk from the seafront. There’s free parking nearby, by the boat museum.

We arrived after walking 25km. We’d booked the previous evening and had been told we’d have a private room and shower, but the shower room turned out not to be private, and we’d have to leave our room to use it. He insisted it was a private shower and said that if we didn’t like it, we should go somewhere else. Very rude. He did mention another private room for E70. STAY AT THIS HOTEL AT YOUR PERIL.

After walking 25kms on the Camino, we arrived after 6. We’d booked the night before through the Buen Camino application for 40 Euros, expecting a private room with a bathroom. We accepted the 50 Euros offered and booked, but were shown a small room with a double bed and a bathroom across the passage. It wasn’t private at all. My partner and the owner argued, and he told us to pay or leave. We left and stood in the rain, calling around to find somewhere else.
