Casa da Cerca - Picadeiro 2

The little house is lovely, the property is gorgeous, and you’re surrounded by nature. We had a fantastic weekend and were the only guests. The host wasn’t there either, but self-check-in was easy. People have criticized the access road, though we found it manageable for vehicles up to about the size of a VW bus. Taller vehicles should take a bit more care on the ramps.

The house, facilities, and pool are good, but there was no privacy. The host’s parents were there every day, and the entrance gate was always open, with access shared with two other houses. We thought the entrance was supposed to be private just for Casa da Cerca, but it wasn’t. One afternoon, while we were watching a film in the living room, a man came right in without asking, said he was a technician, went over to the TV and looked at the cables, then left. I’ve been taking holidays in Gerês with family and friends for about five years, and I’ve never seen anything like this.

The house was lovely, and the quiet surroundings and scenery were five stars. We stayed one night in the upstairs house, Picadeiro 2. The cleaning could have been better: there was a musty smell and some dirt behind the sofa, and the bed pillows were in no condition to be offered to a guest. Apart from that, everything was very good.
