The dogs were left without attention the whole time, and I never saw the owners go near them. One dog, kept in a garage, tried to get away. They chased him, pulled very hard on his chain and slapped him around the face, right in front of us. Seeing that was extremely upsetting, and I felt awful that we'd supported these people by booking their villa. If animal welfare matters to you, please don't stay here. Two dogs are kept chained up, one where villa guests can see her clearly. One was in a garage, the other tied to a tree very close to the house we stayed in, so we had a clear view of her 'home'. Their conditions were deeply unsanitary, and they had very little clean water or food. I changed one dog's water every day because I was afraid she'd get sick from the old, muddy water in her bowl. She also often ran out of food. Her collar was far too tight and attached to a metal chain she kept pulling on.

The pool, tennis court, BBQ and ample parking were great, and I'd certainly stay here again. The staff are very nice, and the place was generally very nice, though there were some specific problems. WiFi didn't reach everywhere, the windows had no screens, and there was no AC. We had issues with hot water and the electrical breakers kept tripping. There was only one door opener, and wasps were near the manual opener. There's no river access. Chickens and dogs nearby made it hard to sleep in during the early hours.

We spent one night at this beautiful property recently. Dinner was a treat, especially the roast lamb with excellent wine, and the dessert was fantastic too. A wonderful stay all round. We'll be back!
