Villa Regio 2

We had a really comfortable stay, and the room stayed pleasantly cool even without air conditioning. The place was spotless, with fresh towels and shower gel each day. Its spot in the town center worked perfectly for us, close to the beach too, and there was plenty of parking.

I slept well on the soft mattress and woke in a good mood to the sound of roosters. My first-floor double room at Villa Regio had a charming little terrace with a hammock and cushions. The old building is well preserved, and the location is handy for the historic center and Casa José Régio. Parking wasn't difficult, even with the uphill street. I came to see the lovely city of Vila do Conde and enjoy its beaches. Many thanks to the owner, whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, for promptly sending me by post the pillow I'd left behind.

The welcome was friendly, and both the room and bathroom were clean. My dog and I stayed here two weeks ago while hiking the coastal Camino Portugues, since we couldn't use a hostel with a dog. I paid €45 for the night, without breakfast, for my dog. Coffee, water, and tea were free, with a kettle available, and there was a refrigerator but no air conditioning. The room stayed cool because it faced a small backyard that you could access. A rooster in the neighboring garden crows naturally. A few small fixes would help, like securing the electrical outlet.

There were drafts through both the room and bathroom, and the electrical outlets were sticking out of the wall. There were no amenities or glasses for rinsing our teeth. We were cold, and the owner was meant to bring another blanket, but we never saw him. The shower turned cold when the hot water ran out; the owner told us to wait ten minutes.
