The cleaners were incredibly nice, and our room was always beautifully cleaned. The restaurant staff were friendly too, especially the lovely manager, though there was some asking for tips. Some of the food was good, but it wasn’t as exceptional as other reviews made it sound. Breakfast drinks were free, but the food was the same every day. The room situation left a bad impression. We’d paid for an ocean view but got a rooftop view. When we asked to move, the front desk staff came across as petty while “trying” to be nice, and told us the upper floors were closed for some unknown reason, even though they weren’t. They also charged a room change fee without mentioning it beforehand. Water at €4.50 felt like a terrible rip-off, and they charged a “city tax” at check-in that I thought should have been included in the hotel price. They only charged us for three days, though I understood it should be charged separately for every day if it was so important. A rip-off at every turn. There were quite a few other details I didn’t like, but I won’t nitpick them.

The grounds were beautiful, quiet and well looked after, and the hotel sits right by the ocean. It’s central, so having a car made it easy to get around the island. We stayed for a week and found the older hotel well maintained, despite what some reviews say about it feeling tired. The bathroom had been nicely updated, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was spacious and well equipped. We didn’t mind the older carpet and furniture. Housekeeping kept everything clean and well stocked. The staff were lovely throughout, especially Marcio in the restaurant, and Nelson, Rodrigo and Felipe in the bar and restaurant. The food was fine, with plenty of variety.

We only stayed because we had a wedding here and were required to book three nights. We definitely regretted it. There’s much better value for money in the area, and other wedding guests seemed to get a much better deal than we did. There wasn’t an iron in our room, so we asked them to bring one, and they tried to charge us. No idea how this place has a 4.5.

We recently stayed in one of the junior sea suite rooms and would highly recommend it. The location is beautiful, with a nice pool and a beach and beach bar just an easy walk away. Breakfast had some good buffet choices, the staff were friendly, and prices were reasonable too.

This has always been my place to stay in Azores. Big rooms and welcoming snacks, which you don’t see much these days. The staff are really friendly, and breakfast is amazing, especially the omelette, cheese and pineapple. Loved staying here :)
