The place was peaceful and relaxed, and the castle was an easy walk away. I came for Mini-Ferias in March and wanted somewhere with a BBQ near the train station. They kindly collected us there, then drove us to the next city later so we could head home to Lisbon by train. Belver is also a very beautiful train ride away.

The kitchen is well equipped, and we learned they can also provide breakfast for groups if you book ahead. The place itself is modern, spacious and airy, with a fantastic view over the town, especially the island castle. It sits high up, though, so getting there may be difficult without a car. The people in charge were always attentive and did their best. We found it very clean apart from a few spots, including behind the beds and bedside tables. I also wish the rooms had a few more pieces of furniture for putting things down. Hot water doesn't stretch to everyone, so try going at another time.

Claudia was so attentive, even calling on the day to check that everything was all right. We were very well looked after. Our family room had an extra bed and its own bathroom, and the breakfast was delicious and generous. Great value for money, would recommend.

A lovely place to unwind for a few days and explore the area. The views of the Tagus River and Castillo de Almourol are incredible, and the facilities are spotless with plenty of comforts. Everyone working at the hostel treated us wonderfully. The best of Tancos and the surrounding area.
