We visited the town's fortress entrance, which also leads to a nice art museum. Giant spiders had been used to decorate the entrance when we were there.

A magical night, fantastic!

You get lovely views over the town and the Miño River from this castle, and entry is free. There’s a chapel inside, with the old town surrounding the walls. The castle dates back to the 14th century, while its bastions and defenses were added in the 17th and 18th centuries during the Restoration Wars. Well worth a visit.

The information is wrong. This place is shown as a Pousada, but it’s closed and isn’t listed on the Pousadas Portuguesas website. It’s the castle, which is also closed except when it opens for chapel services.

A disgrace. There’s no hotel here, just a closed public heritage site of historical interest. It’s a lie!
