B&B Hotel Porto Gaia

The all-day coffee was great, though I’d put the money for the buffet toward one of the nearby cafés instead. The front desk staff didn’t feel especially welcoming and came across a little unfriendly during our stay. For a short visit, the hotel does the job. The rooms are basic but neat, with a fridge, TV, safe, and private bathroom. The adjustable ambient lighting is a fun touch, and the beds are comfortable, though the fold-up frames make some noise. Soundproofing is weak, so expect to hear the hallway or neighbours.

Parking was a little confusing to find and access, but Google Street View made it easy to locate. After that, you can stop briefly at a bus stop while checking in, and it’s straightforward. The staff were professional and thoughtful, the design is modern, and the soundproofing and location are both great. Maybe the cleanest hotel I’ve stayed in. Not sure what else to add.

We had trouble sleeping, which was a major issue. The bed was too soft and creaked loudly whenever we shifted or rolled over. The door also had to be slammed hard to lock, and with poor soundproofing, the other guests’ slamming doors kept disturbing us. The mini-fridge didn’t cool anything, and we needed staff help to use the safe. The room was spotless, and the location is phenomenal: three minutes from the Metro, right by El Corte Inglés, with great food all around. They really need to improve the beds and fix the loud doors.

There’s a free hot drinks dispenser in the lobby, and the room is spacious. The hotel is great, right across from a mall and metro station. My only suggestion is to put a hot water kettle in every room, at the very least.
