Alvara was a wonderful host who put real time and effort into making our visit special. He left us a fruit basket, then went downstairs to pick a handful of lemons from his lemon tree garden. The apartment is a unique two-bedroom place in a very local Portuguese residential neighborhood, about a 20-minute walk from the famous Avenue Republica two-level pedestrian and metro bridge across the Douro River between Gaia and Porto. Inside, it's clean, modern, comfortable, and fully equipped. The bed was very comfortable, there's a walk-in shower, and both bedrooms and the living room have air conditioning and heating.

The place was okay, but it didn't match the listing photos at all. The unit we rented was downstairs and was an apartment in someone's home, not a hotel. I've attached three photos showing the actual view from our window.

A spectacular place to spend a few days in Gaia, only a ten-minute walk from Porto. Álvaro is the best host you could hope for, incredibly helpful, and his home has all sorts of thoughtful touches that make it feel like your own. We'd definitely stay again.

The house is peaceful and welcoming, with a fabulous view of the Douro River. It's close to the center and the waterfront. Sr Álvaro and his wife received us so warmly and were incredibly kind and attentive. I highly recommend it, an excellent stay.
