The Douro view was a highlight, and the river is less than five minutes away. Getting into Porto was easy despite the distance: Ubers were easy to find and reasonably priced, with a ride taking about 15-20 minutes and costing around 10€, or you can walk along the quiet riverbank in about an hour. Teresa and Pedro were warm, attentive hosts and available whenever something came up. The house is roomy, and worked especially well for our trip because my partner and I could each have a separate place to work. Internet was fast and reached most of the house. I’d recommend staying here for a peaceful short or longer visit.

We had a really pleasant stay. The house is in a peaceful spot by the river, and you can tell the owners put care into restoring it. It’s a welcoming place for a few days away. Porto is nearby, though getting around means having a car or using Uber, which cost us 8 or 9 euros per trip. Several supermarkets are about a five-minute drive away.

We’ve now stayed at casa do Mestrinho twice, and were glad to come back. It’s a lovely, peaceful spot with a beautiful view over the Douro, close to Porto, about a 10-minute drive away. The house has a traditional feel and was comfortable, pleasant, and very well equipped, including what we needed for the children. It’s also well placed for walks or bike rides beside the river. The hosts took wonderful care of us and helped make our family holiday memorable. We’d happily return and recommend it to anyone.
