The final stretch to the hotel is a dirt road. We arrived really late, after dark, and had no idea what to expect. Once we got there, though, it was perfect! The rooms were really clean, and the staff were really nice. We'd come back and recommend it 😇

We visited in late September, and they kindly upgraded us to a two-bedroom place. The location near miralvao was excellent, but the place felt shut down for the season. The water in the swimming area was dirty, and our little house was musty when we arrived. It had two bedrooms and a kitchen, but the bathroom was very outdated. There was no information about the pool or restaurant, and I doubt either was available. It was okay as a budget place, but I wouldn't stay again. It definitely didn't compare with other three-star places in Portugal.

This place is amazing. You get its real vibe as soon as you come in. If you want somewhere to relax and retreat, this is the spot. I'm not sure if the canoes are available to use, but I still had an amazing stay. I hope to come back someday and enjoy it even more.

The river views and the quiet were wonderful, and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. We booked a slightly cramped two-bedroom apartment for four, then got offered the house instead and felt like royalty. I loved the place. This is proper Portugal, so it may not suit someone looking for Sunday roast and Corrie followed by clubbing all night. We went in September, when the weather was unusually warm and things were peaceful. British visitors are a novelty here and people welcome you, especially if you learn a little Portuguese first. You’ll need a car, though Millfontes is only a five-minute drive away, right by a National park. There are loads of restaurants nearby, with plenty of choice if you’re into seafood. When I’m rich and famous, I’ll move here.
