Quinta das Varandas by Umbral

The staff were incredibly helpful, and for the price the rooms were very clean and comfortable, even if they weren’t the newest. We had a balcony with a partial ocean view. The building is old and has no lift, which was the only thing that bothered me, especially since I was injured during my stay. I’d absolutely recommend it :)

I paid less than €10 for a comfortable room with two single beds, a bathroom, wardrobe, and TV. One bed was much comfier than the other. My room was beside reception, the main entrance, and the car park, so there was some noise until around midnight. After that it was quiet for the rest of the night. For that price, I got much more than I expected. Tatiana at reception was lovely and very helpful. She was patient with me while I learned Portuguese, and speaks perfect English and Spanish. I’ll stay here again!

We were really happy with our choice. The staff are extremely friendly, the rooms are cosy and have what you need, and the balconies are spacious and sunny. The location is good too. Sound insulation may be the one drawback, but for the price it’s a minor issue. Great value for money!

Free parking right in front of the buildings was handy, and the WiFi reached 200 Mbps in my speed test, which worked well for remote work. We stayed in room 202 and got a lovely sunny wake-up. The terrace looks out to the ocean and gets morning sun, and sunshine for most of the day. Reception closes before midnight; we were told it opens again at 10:00, which is also the latest checkout time.
