A Casa da Sofia

The only real hassle is reaching the place. The vehicle track is narrow and unpaved, so larger 4x4s or SUVs may struggle, though it can be managed. Once there, the accommodation has everything needed for a relaxing stay and is a very good place to base yourself near Vila Real. It’s about 4-5 minutes from the motorway toward Porto or Viseu, and Peso da Régua isn’t far away. I’d happily recommend it.

We spent one night here as three people, and it worked out perfectly. The room was very clean, and the owner was warm and helpful. The route in is a little tricky, but manageable. Be aware that the apartment sits right below a large bridge, so traffic noise carries through the night even with earplugs. I’d still recommend it.

The main thing to keep in mind is the nearby fast road toward Bragança, though everything else makes up for it, and the privacy is excellent. The house itself is really lovely, super clean, and put together with taste and quality. A Sofia was fantastic. We only saw her when we arrived, without even getting out of the car, and she gave us a warm goodbye over the phone.

I was so happy staying in this welcoming, peaceful house, with a beautiful view of the motorway. Sofia and Filipe were attentive and very hospitable. The place was spotless and the decor was lovely. If I come back to Vila Real one day, I hope to stay at Sofia’s house again. Kisses. Signed: Graça Valente
