Alentejo Marmoris Hotel & Spa,

I keep coming back to Marmoris once or twice a year. It’s my little paradise in deep Alentejo, with lovely rooms, good food, a heated pool, and that restful feeling you get in Vila Viçosa. They usually charge fair prices, and if you get in touch or book on their website, the team will try to find you a good deal. Breakfast is really good, though the cold cuts, especially the presunto, aren’t the best you’ll find, which feels odd in Alentejo. There’s even a sweets room for the kids, a nice touch. The pool and restaurant menu are both pretty good, but you pay for them. The one downside is that little kids or noisy guests sometimes forget the pool is meant for relaxing, not an outdoor kindergarten. Still, most of the time you can get some rest. I’m sure I’ll be back next year.

The room was beautiful, spotless, and wonderfully quiet, and the terrace looked out over the pool. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. Breakfast was decent, but fell short of what I’d expect from a five-star hotel at this level. Some items weren’t replenished, and a bit of the fruit tasted sour. It seemed like there wasn’t much effort to refresh or improve the spread during service. The Wi-Fi connection was very poor.

The front desk team were really helpful, and the staff were super friendly. They even gave the kids a little gift, and there’s a sweet buffet where they loved packing a few treats for later. The hotel is centrally located and the buffet breakfast was really nice. The pool is heated and the area is pleasant, though it can get busy.

We stayed three nights and honestly didn’t want to leave. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the beds very comfortable. Customer service was outstanding at every step, from arrival through checkout, with a special thanks to Luis D. The staff were first class and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent too, especially the lamb. Vila Vicosa is such a unique, beautiful place, and this hotel made our stay there even better.
