The breakfast buffet was generous and full of regional products, all very tasty. The service was friendly and helpful, and the outdoor pool was a real treat in the summer heat. It’s an exceptional pousada in a historic convent, with frescoes on the walls and ceilings to discover throughout. The rooms are spacious, and the restaurant is generous, with a cosy bar. A visit that’s sure to stay with you.

We came looking for somewhere to rest and relax, and this place fit the bill. The rooms are spacious and good, and the restaurant has plenty of good options along with an excellent breakfast. It’s a lovely historic hotel in what used to be a convent. The small town is beautiful and welcoming too.

The pool was a welcome escape from the 40C June heat. We also enjoyed the lovely public areas, which made the place feel like our own private palace. It may be the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever stayed in, historic and full of character. Breakfast was excellent. The restaurant is currently open only for dinner on weekends, and the bars are open but unstaffed, so you need to ring for service. A friendly receptionist suggested local restaurants and coffee shops.

This pousada has a lot of history, especially given that it’s attached to the last Portuguese King’s Palace. As with Pousadas across Portugal, the setting is spectacular, and the service has that great Pestana standard.
