Paço de Vilharigues

We meant to stay for two nights at Paço de Vilharigues and ended up extending our visit because we loved it so much. The pool area, with its beautiful views and a place to read or relax, was a highlight, and there’s a pool table indoors for evenings. The hosts were friendly and sociable from the start, so we felt at home. Set in the Serra do Caramulo mountains, the B&B is surrounded by quiet nature but easy to reach by car. Vouzela and São Pedro do Sul are nearby, with Viseu not far away, which makes it a handy base for exploring. The house has lots of charm and history, and its thoughtful decor feels homey. Each room is named for a well-known Portuguese writer. Everything was spotless, and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was fresh, generous, and served with care. Even on our last morning, when we were the only guests, the spread was just as complete as on earlier days. That kind of consistency and attention stood out. It suits hiking, biking, or simply relaxing with a book. Rates are very reasonable, and we’d love to return.

The breakfast was lovely, and the staff were cheerful, friendly, and very accommodating. My wife and son eat gluten-free, and the staff even made cakes for them. Our shower was powerful and really nice, and the pool table is professional quality. The infinity pool looks beautiful, though it isn’t heated, and two dogs and two cats wander around. The setting is peaceful, but the driveway up to the villa is very tight. Our room smelled a little damp, although the other rooms didn’t. I’d recommend staying here.

Sofia and Viriato were such welcoming hosts, making sure we were comfortable and helping us feel at home. This place brings together beauty, history, peace, warmth, and style. We recommend it to everyone!

We stayed in the newer section, where our room was both attractive and practical, with plenty of heat to keep us warm. Breakfast was delicious and had a good variety.
