Rose Garden Resort

We never stayed in the rooms, but we ate here around four times because the team was so friendly and the food was such good value. It’s hard to find many places that match it on both price and quality. The sizzle plates are among the best dishes, and the set meals with garlic rice are great too.

I stopped in for lunch rather than staying at the resort. The views were stunning, and my green curry was excellent, really tasty with a proper kick when ordered spicy. Iced water is free, and the iced tea comes with a refill. If you’re sharing, ask for extra plates or small bowls.

The beef with broccoli was the best I’ve had anywhere. The broccoli tasted as if it had been charred over charcoal. The Caesar salad may be the best on the island too, not a scrap remained on any of the three plates ordered. The fried pickles were also the best I’ve ever eaten. Prices are the most reasonable I’ve found in Palau. An Asahi beer is $4.00. There’s no A/C, but the restaurant sits on a hill and the open layout catches a lovely breeze. I have no idea what the Harley Davidson bike and decor are about, but they’re there. If I lived nearby, the Rose Garden would be a regular haunt. A few practical things: this review is for the restaurant, not the hotel. There’s no sign from the main road for the turn up the steep hill, so you have to know where it is. It’s near central Koror, but I wouldn’t call it walkable, especially uphill on the way back. You’d probably want a rental car if staying here. Service was uneven. Dishes came out as they were ready, sometimes 15 or even 20 minutes apart for no clear reason. The starters, calamari and fried pickles, arrived last.

This place is listed as a hotel on the map, but it has a really good restaurant too. We had a great dinner with tasty food, a beautiful view, and very reasonable prices. There’s a rich menu with different styles, and all the staff were welcoming and kind. I’d definitely recommend the “Famous burger”!
