The breakfast is still good, but the staff were rude, unfriendly, and seemed not to care. I've stayed here a couple of times and recommended it more than once, but I can't anymore. Prices have gone up, and the rooms are too expensive for what you get. My room smelled bad and wasn't clean. There were no clean towels on the floor, and the towels provided were dirty and old. The single beds were very poor, old, and uncomfortable. There was no Wi-Fi, and no signal inside either. I had to work in my PJs in the hallway after midnight, but even there the Wi-Fi only worked when there was a signal, on top of the fridge. I'm going back to CDE next week, but won't stay here. You can find more comfortable rooms for this price.

The room was the problem: it was dirty, with spiderwebs in the shower and hair on the floor that wasn't ours. I stayed with my family, and the service was nice. The hotel looks aesthetically pleasing, and apart from that room, I thought it was good.

The location worked well for us, near the Brazilian border and within reach of a busier area for shopping and food. The restaurant's outdoor area and balcony were cozy spots for breakfast, dinner, or an evening beer. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was nice. Our room was clean and fine for a night or two, though quite small, with a little window facing the stairs.

We paid around $35 US for a matrimonial room for two, and the price felt competitive. The room was quiet, clean, comfortable, and safe, with a small fridge, air conditioning, a clean bathroom, hot water, and a comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was really good, and the associated restaurant was great. We returned there for dinner on our way back. Service was especially good.

The restaurant is a nice extra, with breakfast, dinner, and good pizzas. Hotel Austria is conveniently placed near the Brazilian border in Ciudad del Este. It felt comfortable and decent by South American standards, though the rooms could use some updating, especially the cabinets.
