There was a strange smell in the bathroom, and the old air conditioner started leaking badly after a few hours, almost like a river. I called receptionist Samuel, who arranged for someone to repair it, and I appreciated his help. From talking to the mechanics, though, it seemed this had happened before. The other issue came around 9 p.m. A local friend came up to my room and we chatted for about half an hour. The night receptionist saw us go upstairs and said nothing about an extra charge. As soon as my friend left, I got a call saying I owed an extra 100,000 guaraní because my booking was for one person. I thought that was unreasonable, and it felt deliberate that they waited until he had left to tell me. I would understand a fee if he had slept over, but we only talked for half an hour.

The staff at Mandala Hotel in Encarnation, Paraguay, showed real honesty and care. After I checked out, housekeeping found my small bag with a significant amount of money in the room. The team contacted me straight away and even involved the police to get my contact details and let me know. Their professionalism and integrity turned what could have been stressful into a reassuring experience. Many thanks to the team. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, and the strong A/C kept us cool overnight. Breakfast was fresh and complete, and check-in and checkout were easy. The hotel also has comfortable accommodations and excellent amenities. Service like this is rare, and I’m grateful for the staff’s effort. I’d happily recommend Mandala Hotel and return on my next visit. Un mil gracias!

I was given a triple room even though we were four, a couple with two children, and it wasn't the room I had asked for. A blond guy whose name I can't remember was kind and tried to sort it out, but the room I wanted was no longer available because demand was high. The blond girl at reception was awful with customers. They really need to improve. I wouldn't stay here again.

We were there for just one night. There are less expensive hotels, but those don't take PayPal or credit cards, and this one does. Everything was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the reception staff were friendly.
