21 High Street Residence By The Torch

I’ve stayed with my family at plenty of hotels, and I’ve never had such a bad feeling after an experience like this. I came here today with my two kids and found the staff incredibly unfriendly. At reception, I was asked twice if I was sure I had the right place. Then the receptionist spent about 10 minutes on the phone after I gave him the valet number, before handing my card to the valet. Even when they saw me with two small children and two bags, nobody helped with the car door or anything else. They just went back to their chair and watched. Please don’t judge people by their clothes or the brand of their car.

At reception, a simple misunderstanding turned into a really disappointing experience. My client had booked while at 21 High Street Residence, so she accidentally shared that hotel’s name instead of the actual location for my nail appointment. We explained what had happened, but the response was dismissive and unprofessional. We were already lost and trying to sort out a mistake that wasn’t ours, and the way we were treated made it worse. For a place that presents itself as high-end, I expected basic courtesy and much better service.

Qais at the front desk made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived. He was professional and helpful, and his hospitality really lifted the experience. I also loved how beautiful the residence was. I spent six nights at 21 High Street Residence By The Torch, and being right in Katara meant everything in the cultural village was just steps away. I couldn’t be happier with the choice and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Doha.

The bathroom was roomy, but there was nowhere convenient to set toiletries, with no counter or shelf space planned within reach. Housekeeping also didn’t replace the bathroom amenities. And using Chromecast meant confirming every five minutes that we were still watching, otherwise it would disconnect after 60 seconds. The room itself was spacious and nice, right by Katara Cultural Village, but these weren’t things I expected from a five-star stay.
