Mina Hotel and Residences By the Torch

Simple but elegant, and the hotel looks really nice. It’s easy for everyone to get to, too. I love it.

The check-in deposit turned into a confusing situation when I left. At check-out I was told I had paid by card already, and that the refund would take 20 business days. The staff weren't friendly or helpful, and their behavior made the whole experience unpleasant. The front desk service needs serious improvement. Guests deserve better, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel until staff behavior changes.

I was especially upset to be given what was clearly the last room at the resort, with no marina view, even though my booking plainly said marina view. I didn't like the reception staff's handling of that at all. I stayed at Al Mina Hotel for five days and found it comfortable, with a good breakfast and a lovely location. Hari from Nepal was kind, attentive, and helpful to me and my child. His service made the stay better, and I hope management recognizes and rewards his dedication. A couple of things affected the comfort: the bed linen smelled unpleasant, and the restaurant lunch wasn't as good as I expected.

The view over Mina, the port area, was genuinely enjoyable. The rest left me disappointed. Our room had a locked connecting door, so sounds from next door carried clearly, and presumably our noise carried through too. That seriously affected privacy and comfort. Breakfast was included in my booking, but some menu items, including certain egg choices, couldn't be ordered. It made me question the value of the breakfast booking, and felt like a commercial restriction rather than guest focused service. The hotel has potential, but needs better soundproofing and clearer information about what breakfast includes.
