Hotel Riga

The bed was comfortable, the shower decent, and the place was clean. Staff were friendly and parking was great value. My room faced the front, though, so I heard traffic and a barking dog.

The bed was so uncomfortable that sleeping became a nightmare, especially with sheets that smelled of sweat and seemed never to have been washed. The room itself wasn't very clean, smelled like a kitchen, and the TV didn't work.

The receptionist tried to make things right after I reported the problems, even giving my son a chocolate bar, but I left very disappointed. Breakfast was disgusting and seemed to be only expired food, perhaps leftovers from New Year's night, and I found a cockroach in the bathroom. The rooms needed better cleaning too, and I suspect management still has work to do. The location is convenient if you're passing through, but I wouldn't eat there.

The road and dogs barking at night made it noisy. Still, the staff were lovely, the shower was good, and the bed was comfortable despite how it looked. Parking was good, too.
