Casa Ferica

We got on well with the host, and the value for money seemed fair. The villa is one of two attached places, so renting both would give you more privacy. From the terrace and through the living room’s glass wall, the forest view is enchanting. It’s so close to the woods that a bear came by the dumpsters. The kitchen has what you need to cook, which we did, though we also ordered from the Elemar restaurant. Delivery took 30-45 minutes. The jacuzzi worked well and fit about four or five people. We’re planning to return.

The walls are thin, so you can hear every conversation in the next room. And the whole place creaks with even the slightest movement, from the beds to the floor. The upstairs bedrooms are tiny, with no stool to set a suitcase on, so I ended up putting my clothes on the floor. Cleanliness could be much better too. Not worth the price.

The beautiful setting was the best part, but we left Casa Ferica disappointed. We booked two nights, Friday to Sunday, and had only four people although the cabin accommodates eight. Since we were arriving late Friday, I called the owner and clearly said we'd only book if we could stay until Sunday evening. She agreed, as long as nobody else booked that day. Then at 13:00 on Sunday she sent the cleaner to tell us to leave. When I said that wasn't what we'd agreed, she acted as if she didn't remember the conversation and said we could stay until 14:00 because she was being very nice. For an expensive cabin, we expected more respect and much better quality. There were some good features: a gorgeous mountain view, a terrace with loungers and a dinner table, a barbecue and jacuzzi, and a nicely decorated living room with large sofas and a whole glass wall facing the mountain. But the upkeep was poor. The house smelled strongly of sewage. The kitchen looked only superficially clean, with dirty corners, dirty dishes in the cupboard, and oily pots and pans. The fireplace blew smoke into the house even though we followed the phone instructions, and there was no firewood provided. I only found that out when I called in the evening to ask where it was. The bathrooms had bathtubs, but hot water lasted at most five minutes, so we could only take a quick shower, not a bath. It's a shame, because the location is so beautiful. We've stayed in much cheaper, more modest cabins where we felt more comfortable.

The place itself is very beautiful, but the house was a letdown for me when I visited recently. It looks like it hasn't had investment for a long time and needs cosmetic repairs. Cleanliness was also disappointing: cobwebs everywhere, moths and lice in the kitchen, and very dirty rooms and bathroom.
