Hamlet Hotel

The coffee at Hamlet was excellent, probably the best espresso around that part of town. The hotel itself was a pleasant, quiet place to stay, with air conditioning and a refrigerator in the room, and most of what I'd expect from a 3-star hotel. The free parking was quite hard to find during the day. Also, no one mentioned when we arrived that the street is blocked on Sundays. After our first night I developed something like a rash on my cheek. It only began to fade after we left, so perhaps it came from the pillows or something in the room. The restaurant didn't impress me, mainly because the prices felt high for what you got. The soup was salty and served in what seemed like a coffee-cup-sized portion rather than a full bowl. I've had small servings elsewhere in the country, but this one seemed child-sized at full price. In the photo, the spoon reaches the bottom of the bread bowl, and you can judge the soup's height by the spoon left sticking out. The menu showed full servings for the other soups too, with things like bread and garlic sauce, but those cost extra, so the price of a soup could easily double. We also tried the recommended 800g ribs. The portion size was OK, but the ribs were mediocre at best, and the sauce and dressing were an acquired taste. Even the baked potatoes seemed more fried than baked and were extra greasy.

We've been coming to the restaurant on vacation for the past three years, and the food and drinks have always been lovely. This time, though, one waiter, Mario, brought a very different mood. When we politely asked if we could order, with the menus already in front of us, he sarcastically replied that if we wanted to eat, we had to order. The sarcasm continued through the meal and brought the atmosphere down. There were two women working there too, and they were lovely, as they have been on our other visits. Thank you both for helping us and saving the day. Mario, I hope you'll keep your emotions in check while working. You're part of the place's image, and no one wants to be served with the attitude you showed at our table. It's still possible to change; we've all had rough moments, and we're not judging you. But in a place like this, you need to act professionally.

The restaurant was clean and orderly, which was its one positive. The food was mediocre at best, and most of what we ordered had no flavor. Service felt unfriendly, inattentive, and unhelpful. People were allowed to vape right beside our table. I wouldn't spend money here.

The woman serving us seemed to focus only on my husband and ignored me and my requests completely. When he asked her for them, she brought them right away.
