Hotel Seneca

The gym is one of the best in town, and I’d definitely recommend it. My stays for work have been mixed, though. Prices are fairly low, but so is the room quality. There are two room types, so check which one you’re booking. Rooms above the gym and pool are very dated, and the gym noise carries until 22:00. Rooms at the front of the hotel are passable. The shower’s small, and those little shampoo sachets are hard to open. You’d need about 5-6 for a proper shower, so bringing your own may be a good idea. Breakfast is limited, and the restaurant could be cleaner. I might come back if nothing else is available.

We only spent a couple of hours at the swimming pool, we didn’t stay at the hotel. The place needs a refurbishment and a deep clean.

The bathroom in our room had a terrible smell, worse than a public toilet. When I told a hotel employee, they suggested leaving the bathroom door and room window open, as if that solved it. I had a very bad experience and would avoid booking here.

We were on the first floor above two weddings, and the music was impossibly loud until the early hours. The whole place felt old fashioned, the staff seemed poorly trained and a bit surly, and the food was pretty poor. Breakfast was cut short so the hotel could provide a very low budget canteen. The pool wasn’t accessible from the hotel, we had to leave and pay to get in, which felt like misleading advertising. It made me feel like hotel guests were an afterthought. I wouldn’t return and would advise others to avoid it.
