Peakture - Balvanyos Resort

We didn't have a nice stay, which is a pity because the hotel has a lot of potential, but it feels like they don't care. We were left with the impression that if you speak Romanian, the staff won't serve you nicely. We booked a two-bedroom apartment, but one bathroom smelled so bad that we couldn't use it. The drain system seemed to have a problem. I asked reception several times to fix it, but nothing changed. They sent the cleaning lady to pour in some cleaning solution, and that was all. The smell persisted for all three nights and was unbearable even in the room. We requested a baby cot, but it came without a mattress. They put a folded pillow in it, which wasn't comfortable at all. When we asked for a mattress, they said they didn't have one. Cleaning was very superficial too. We put out the sign asking for the room to be cleaned while we went for a walk, but on our return they'd only vacuumed the living room and the entrance to the bedrooms. There was snow outside when we arrived, and we could see muddy footprints on the floor. The lady hadn't bothered to wipe it. Breakfast was very basic, with few options for babies. For a hotel marketed as child-friendly, I expected much more. The small kids' pool in the family spa area had a few things to play with, but it was already crowded with more than 10 kids. The other restaurants were a disaster. At lunch, a soup took 50 minutes to arrive, even though I politely asked them to bring it faster because it was for the baby. We tried one of the other restaurants for soup again the next day, and that took 40 minutes. It was so salty we couldn't eat it. At Gastrolab, dinner took 40 minutes to arrive, and when it did, it was cold and not very tasty. The only kids' options were french fries with schnitzel, chicken leg with mashed potatoes, and pasta carbonara. The food was a total disappointment, with no options for small babies.

We ate lunch and dinner at Gastrolab and Bundaberry, and the food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and always ready to help. Our two-night stay at Peakture Hotel was a lovely escape into nature. The room was very spacious, breakfast had plenty of different choices, and the SPA was amazing, with several kinds of pools and saunas. Everything was just perfect, and I'd totally recommend it.

The design is beautiful, and it has a lovely atmosphere. Everything was clean.
