Casa Eva Wagner - Biertan

We came to Biertan along Via Transilvanica and stayed a few nights. The room stayed cool and shaded during the heatwave, and the garden had a beautiful view. The property was easy to reach, and the hosts were very accommodating. A very pleasant stay.

The location is beautiful, with a lovely view of the church. Our room was spacious and clean, though there were a few bugs inside during summer. We were six friends hiking Via Transilvanica, but only five made it to the destination because one of us was injured. We’d paid part of the cost in advance, and I appreciated that the host didn’t ask us to pay the remaining amount for the sixth person. The main reason for my three-star rating was the transport from Biertan to Sighisoara. We asked about a ride, and Titi, who the host recommended and who showed us the rooms, quoted a very overpriced fare. We’d agreed to leave at 1:30 PM, but he called at 11:30 AM to say he’d pick us up in 15 minutes. For someone affiliated with Via Transilvanica, it was sad to encounter this kind of person.

The breakfast was a big plus: tasty, healthy, and made with local products. It was served in the cellar of another traditional house a couple of minutes away. My fiancé and I spent 2 days at Eva Wagner House and loved our stay. It has a vintage, traditional look but modern appliances that made it comfortable. The backyard was lovely for a picnic, a book, or morning coffee. Best of all were the hot tub and the view of the fortified church. We appreciated the people’s hospitality and would definitely return.

Casa Eva Wagner has a great spot and stunning views of the fortified church. The sunny garden and hot tub are lovely for relaxing, the minimalist rooms have charm, and the host is welcoming. Cleanliness could be better, though. We noticed spider webs.
