Metropolis Hotel

I've stayed here 20 times and liked it, especially the rooms and location. On my last visit I missed out on food because I was told the restaurant was open from 07:00 to 11:00, but it actually closed at 10:00. They apologized and said they'd bring food up to my room.

I chose this hotel for a business trip to Bistrița, hoping for a comfortable stay, but it didn't work out that way. It started with a good first impression, then I noticed the sheets hadn't been washed properly. There was a stain I don't think the person who prepared the room had seen. Thankfully, they changed the sheets in the morning. The shower didn't drain fully, so it wasn't pleasant to use again, and the water started to smell after a few hours. Breakfast was very basic, with little choice. I expected more from a 5* hotel. I know Bistrița isn't Bucharest, but still. Paying was another hassle. My company booked through a booking system connected to its online card, but the hotel couldn't simply charge it online. They had to enter all the card details on the terminal, including the CCV code that is hidden for online payments. I spent over 30 minutes calling the booking company to sort it out, since there was no way to pay for the stay online. The internet in the room was very poor too, impossible to work from there in a 5* hotel. I won't be back.

Everything was clean and nice otherwise, and the hotel worked well for a reception or large groups. It has everything you might need and is in a great location. The pool has been broken for two years, though, and the receptionist had a bit of an anger management issue.

We'd booked a double room with a big bed, but found a small bed when we got there and were confused. Reception told us all the doubles were already taken. Just my two cents, check your booking carefully here so you don't get surprises, and be very careful about what you're paying for.
