Casa Krone - Piața Sfatului

Just to clarify, this is a guest house rather than a hotel, though Google lists it as a 3 star hotel. Everything else is excellent.

The common coffee room is well equipped: there’s a good machine and quality coffee available all the time, plus a microwave, fridge, sandwich maker, kettle, iron, dishes, and sink. No parking is provided, but the historic centre is pedestrian-only, so that’s the case for all accommodations there. We found a spot on Grigoraș Dinicu Street nearby for 24 lei/day. The hostess shares information about the closest parking areas and prices right away. We stayed at the end of January, and the room temperature was just right for the season. The hot water takes about a minute to arrive, but there’s plenty of it. Our room, Room 1 - the King Room, was spacious and had two big windows with a breathtaking view towards Piața Sfatului and the White Tower. There’s another upstairs room with a really small window facing the same way, but it doesn’t compare. The furniture is painted wood, in a tasteful shabby chic style. There’s a mini fridge, and the big TV has Netflix and other streaming services. The bathroom comes with soap, shower gel, shampoo, and a hairdryer. It’s pet friendly and right in the heart of the action, surrounded by good restaurants and breakfast places. I think this might be the best pet friendly accommodation in Brașov. We can’t wait to come back!

There’s live music downstairs, thankfully good music, but you can still hear it. The only window opens onto a surprisingly busy balcony, which raises both noise and security concerns. You may also need to phone someone to get checked in. The room itself is clean, a good size, and very central. I’d keep my options open for breakfast and pay for it separately, since it costs the same.

The owner, Adrian, was really friendly. When I was trying to find the place at 9pm for check-in, he came out to meet me in the square, which was a lovely touch. I also liked the large room and nice bathroom, and the view of Tumpa mountain from the landing in the morning. The main reason I liked the place was its very central location near the main square.
