Old Town Hostel Brasov

There isn't much of a common area, and it was usually being used by the owner and her friends. In the 8-bed dorm there was just one power socket, beside the door and behind the wardrobe. Those were my only gripes. The beds were good, the room was big enough, and everyone had a locker. The kitchen was decent, the owner was friendly, the Wi-Fi worked well, and free toast and cereal for breakfast were welcome. It's a 10-minute walk to the old town, and good value for what you pay. I'd stay again.

We kept coming back whenever we were in Brasov. It's quiet, so it suits you if you aren't after a party hostel. The beds are comfortable, and the staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and available. Breakfast is included, with toast, cereal, coffee, and more. The town center is an easy walk away.

Brasov is a cute little town and a nice escape from the summer heat if you can't stand it. If you're traveling as a group, renting a car makes it possible to take a few days of road trips outside town. For food, I'd recommend Bite pub at the old town entrance for authentic Chinese food, plus good pizza and grills. Dei Frati for its pasta, and Cucinino for its mussels soup. Skip the bubble tea, though. It's overpriced and made with artificial flavored powders, completely different from what they sell in Southeast Asian countries.

We were a group of seven and had a wonderful Christmas in Brashov. The town square had a lovely tree and Christmas market, with plenty of fun shops, restaurants, and pubs. We'd highly recommend Transylvania, Brashov, the bear sanctuary, the fortress, and Dracula’s castle!
