Penthouse Elegance

There were problems with the cleaning.

We stayed for 2 nights, two mothers with four children. The apartment is in a new, attractive neighborhood and is well positioned. It's spacious, with a lovely view, but sadly it hasn't been maintained. There was a strong tobacco smell mixed with room perfume when we walked in. Looking around, I noticed bathroom defects, poor cleanliness, and sticky furniture. The refrigerator smelled strongly of rot mixed with a cleaning product. It's a shame, given the apartment and location, but the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired.

The apartment was new and clean, but it really didn’t work for our family of two adults and small children aged 4 and 1. We had checked ahead that there’d be a cot, but it came without a sheet, and there was no spare bedding either. There wasn’t a high chair, and the counter with tall stools wasn’t usable for a baby. The owner bought a chair the day after we asked, but left us to assemble it. There were only two hangers in the wardrobe, no laundry basket, pegs, or laundry supplies, and no bathroom cleaner. We had to buy those basics ourselves. The kitchen was barely equipped: no microwave, salt, sugar, or bowls for cereal or making night cream. Our daughter ended up eating cereal from a juicer. Doors kept closing and there were no doorstops, which felt dangerous with a baby just learning to walk. We chose the apartment because it had air conditioning, but that was only in the living room. The bedroom had none, and in August it was hot at night. It was pleasant outside, but we couldn’t leave the windows open without letting in mosquitoes, and the children got bitten when we tried. There were no shutters either. The towel situation was the worst. Four people had four bath towels, so we had to schedule washing and hope they’d dry in time. There was no dryer, just a cheap rack on a small balcony under a little awning. Once, water splashed onto the towels; another time, rain soaked them and knocked over the rack while they were hanging out with the laundry. We ended up drying four people with one towel and using an iron to dry it. The setup might suit a couple, but the equipment was far too minimal for a family.

Brasov is a great place to spend a weekend or even a whole vacation, and this stay is well suited to families. The location, cleanliness, and good taste all stood out. The owners were both kind and serious about things. I’d gladly recommend it.
