Residence Ambient

The room was clean, full of character, and close to the old town, with loads of places nearby to eat, drink, and relax. Breakfast meant going to another building, which was a bit of a pain. Even so, I’d happily come back. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures.

We were there for a two-night holiday from Ireland. The rooms are a good size, very clean, with high ceilings and comfortable beds. It’s an old, stately sort of building, quiet and really well situated, about a 20 minute walk to the old town. There’s plenty of paid parking outside. Download the tpark app, it’s 16lei for 24 hrs. I gave it five stars for the exceptional value, but don’t expect a five star hotel. The furnishings are a bit worn, and the outside looks a little shabby, though everything inside was spotless. Check-in is at another location, a street away, but it was seamless. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Some people mentioned noise. We had a room at the back overlooking a small garden, and it was completely quiet, both outside and inside. There’s also a clean shared kitchen with fridges, cutlery, glasses, and space to store and prepare food. I’d highly recommend it for comfort and value. We were really pleased.

The building’s old-fashioned look gives it a lot of atmosphere, with high ceilings, beautiful staircases, paintings, figurines, and big sofas and armchairs in the corridors. There’s a glassed-in terrace with mountain views, plus guest computers. On the top floor, guests can use the equipped kitchen, fridges, microwave, coffee machine, and kettle. The staff kept to themselves and didn’t disturb us unless needed. There’s a small reception downstairs, though we never saw anyone there. We stayed in room 107 on the second floor in January 2025 and were very pleased. It was large, with a bedroom and a living room with a fold-out sofa, plus a small, cozy bathroom. The high ceilings, stylish flooring, paintings, old-style furniture, plenty of cabinets, and all the necessary amenities made it comfortable. Our room was warm, and although it faced the street, it wasn’t noisy. There were quite a few guests, including families with children, but we barely heard anyone from the neighboring rooms. The floor creaked and bent a little, which I think adds to the hotel’s charm. The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from the center of Brașov. There are old buildings with interesting architecture and mountain views nearby, and the area is good for walks and photos. A bank, cafes, restaurants, shops, grocery markets, and bus stops are close. The hotel has a small parking lot. The entrance has tall doors and an intercom opened with a special chip-key. A couple of small drawbacks: check-in is at Pensiune Ambient, a separate building around the corner, about 200 meters away. On our first day, we were taken there and then had to walk back a short way with our suitcase after checking in and getting the key. Breakfast is served there too, so you have to get dressed and walk outside in the morning. The breakfast room is small, with 5-7 tables, and you might have to wait if the hotel is busy. The selection is modest, but it was all fresh and tasty, and we were satisfied. We came away with a very positive impression. The hotel put us in a good mood for relaxing, and I think we’d like to return. Thanks to the owners!

The location was good, and the furniture in the rooms was beautiful. The sheets could have been better, and the bathroom was dirty. The staff were extremely rude.
