Villa Casablanca

The area is lovely and quiet, and the place is very nicely set up. It feels like HOME instead of somewhere you're just passing through, and it's really well equipped. We did have one issue with the water supply, which wasn't enough and wasn't available all the time. The hosts have probably fixed it by now.

Each bedroom and bathroom has its own style, and all of them are tastefully decorated and beautiful. The villa was lovely for our group of four couples. We especially liked the kitchen and the big table, where we could sit and spend time together.

We left after one night, mainly because the place was too cold. I'd said we were bringing our 8-month-old children and needed it warm. I was told the temperature would be 23 degrees, but the kitchen thermometer read 18.5 when we arrived and had only reached 19 by Saturday morning. The floor was cold, and everyone slept with the heaters on. I kept ours running all night, and we all woke with dry throats from the air. I wasn't expecting 25 degrees, but that wasn't comfortable for us. The villa is attractive, clearly built as a home rather than a rental, and the quality is good. Still, our group wouldn't return. I was told there'd be a grill for making a fire, but the one in the yard sits about 50 cm off the ground, and we couldn't cook steaks on it. Maybe a wood trailer would've helped. We come to the mountains to sit outside and cook over a proper fire, and after using gas for three years, we know it's not the same. The gas grill was extremely dirty. We spent half an hour cleaning it, then found it was too cold to use properly because the gas flame was weak. When I first called, I was also told there'd be a small grill on legs, but there wasn't one. It costs 250 RON, so I'd suggest getting one for future guests. I'm not going to get into the wood. This is the first mountain place I've stayed where I was told to go to the forest or a shop for it. The stairs to the terrace should also have been cleared of ice before guests arrived. Someone fell on them, and it wasn't because of alcohol. With a little effort and expense, this place could have been highly appreciated and made a favorite.
