Hotel Amphitryon Premium

The room was great, very clean, and in a perfect location. The trouble started before I arrived: a few days beforehand I messaged through booking.com to say I'd be late, since the listing said reception was only open until 9:30pm. I got no reply, so I messaged again on check-in day and still heard nothing. I was worried after reading about another woman left outside at night in the same situation. In the Uber, I asked the driver to call the hotel because I couldn't make international calls. The number went to an answering machine. Thankfully, a woman was there to greet me kindly when I arrived, and said she'd known I was coming and had waited for me. One time when I came in, a very stern man questioned me in Romanian at reception, even though I knew the entry code. When he realized I didn't understand, he asked in English which room I was in. After I answered, he seemed to relax. He seemed uncomfortable with how I looked, as if I shouldn't be there. Then I lost my keycard and couldn't get into my room at night. I went down to the lobby to sit and call for help, but nobody answered. Another guest sexually assaulted me there. I ended up calling the police, and there was no one at reception. I spent eight hours, all night and into the morning, at the police station. The poor CCTV coverage meant they couldn't get enough evidence, even in the public reception area. It was extremely disheartening. When I finally got back, the woman seemed angry instead of sympathetic. She blamed me for calling the wrong number, though it was the number they'd messaged me on WhatsApp during my stay; the number on booking.com didn't work at all. She said I should have checked the door for the correct number. Then she angrily asked if I knew where my keycard was, saying it was in my room, as if the whole thing were my fault. She said grudgingly, “I'm sorry that happened to you,” but seemed more irritated about being on the phone with the police all night. There was no compensation, emotional support, or reassurance. At 11am, when I said I was exhausted and going to sleep, she replied, “Me too, I've been up all night too.” That felt very odd and insensitive after what I'd just gone through. When I left, the stern man didn't say anything and gave me the same look as before. The location is great and the hotel is very clean, but the lack of overnight staff and the incorrect phone numbers turned out to be a serious problem for me. Without all this, I'm sure the stay would have been perfect. When something like this happens, some support would be nice, especially from one woman to another.
