Hotel Avis

The staff were very helpful, and the airport is close by. Those are the only real positives for me. The rooms feel old and badly maintained, and the lack of window insulation lets the main street noise right in. Cleanliness was also a concern. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you're really stuck, especially with so many other places nearby.

The staff were decent, but I wouldn't give this place more than one star. The room was extremely hot, and the fan couldn't be turned off, so we slept with the window open and heard even more noise. It was the worst sleep we've had. We also found the pillows very uncomfortable. When I asked reception to change them, I was told they only had that kind. On arrival, we were charged an extra city fee of about €2 per person per day. It hadn't been mentioned on the booking platform. Apparently hotels are allowed to charge it by law, so budget for it if you're visiting Bucharest. Management seems careless. With so many bad reviews and complaints, I don't understand why they haven't fixed these issues, especially when a night booked at reception costs €75.

The mattress was horrible, and the towels were old. There were broken things in both the bathroom and the room. The rooms are small, with nowhere to put your stuff and no hangers. The shower was really badly designed. Traffic and noise went on day and night, and we waited 40 minutes for breakfast.

For the price, it's hard to find a better hotel in Bucharest. The staff were very good, and we had a lovely stay. I'd recommend it!
