Bucharestby Apartments

The airport pickup and drop-off both went smoothly, and we were glad to have the Red Studio's washing machine. We travelled with carry-on bags only, so it was useful to be able to wash clothes. We needed somewhere near downtown Bucharest for a few days, and this worked out really well. We'd book with them again.

Camelia was lovely, and getting in touch with her was easy. The place was clean and comfortable, with a really good Wi-Fi connection and a great location. There's no light in the room where you eat, but the larger lamp in the main room gives plenty of light. The bathroom gets a little wet after a shower, though tucking the curtain inside the bath takes care of it.

We booked five nights months in advance, but when we arrived the apartment looked nothing like the listing photos. The neighborhood felt very sketchy, and the walls between apartments were so thin we could hear the neighbors' conversations and TV. Across the road was a cathedral whose bells rang on the hour all night, so we barely slept. We also found the Wi-Fi and washing machine weren't working, though we needed both. When I contacted the owner about that and the fact that he was asking for more than the agreed price, he demanded full payment right away. In one hour I got 13 missed calls about payment and many texts. Moments after we paid, Booking.com told us the owner had cancelled the reservation, leaving us on the street in the middle of the night. Thankfully, the Radisson across the road had a room, but we had to pay €400 in an emergency for a hotel after booking this place for €200. That left three women alone and without accommodation in Bucharest on a busy bank holiday weekend, simply because we asked for working Wi-Fi and the agreed price. The owner had also offered an airport pickup for €30 per person, while a taxi cost €5.

For a pretty good price, we got a lovely studio just steps from Bucharest City Center, with a gas panel, TV, small enclosed balcony, and conditioner. They also gave us a parking spot in the yard, though parking a CUV or another large car there might be hard.
