We only booked one night and were kindly given an apartment upgrade. The rooms were comfortable, and the walk into the centre was fine for us. Parking was tricky, but we found a reasonably priced car park around the corner. Would definitely recommend!

The transport links made getting around easy. There are at least two bus lines nearby, the M1 metro is one block from the entrance, and Gara da Nord is a few minutes away on foot. A small convenience shop is about two minutes away, with a Starbucks by the train station. I took plenty of Ubers too, usually around $7 with a tip, and my wait for one at the hotel was never over 30 seconds. They’re fast and cheap, which helps since quite a few landmarks and parks aren’t easy to reach by transit. Most things I wanted to see seemed to be within a 2 - 3 mile radius, though I think that might be 2 - 5? For buses and the subway, as I understand it, you need separate cards. Metro tickets come from a machine in the station. You can buy an STB card near the station shops, outside Starbucks a little to the northeast, at a machine marked “STB”. If your debit or credit card has tap, you can use it on the bus. A one-way ride cost $.70, and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t charged when I boarded another bus. I’d probably stay here again, knowing what I know now. Staff were friendly, and for four nights I paid about $290, which felt like a very good price for the comfort and convenience. The hotel is near transport to Old Town and the Palace of Parliament: take the train from Gara da Nord to Izvor, then walk about 10 minutes to either place. There are other useful amenities around, too. It was my first trip to Romania, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. The room was bigger than some apartments in the USA, the bed was comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was nice. There was only body wash in the shower, though, so bring hair products if those matter to you. One evening I tried the pub and ordered a halloumi burger, expecting a hamburger with halloumi cheese. It was actually just two cheese patties. The meal was fine, and that’s part of traveling. The staff were kind.

The cheeseburger was spectacular, easily the best I’ve had. I’d only ordered one because I was too lazy to try local food that evening, and I’d happily come back for another stay. In fact, I’m on the 24th. The hotel is very nice, close to Bucharest North railway station, about a 25 minute ride from the airport. The room was large and comfortable, the staff helpful, and the bar was nice. Breakfast was a lovely continental spread.

The rooms are spacious and modern despite the old building, and the value is fantastic. The train station is only two blocks away, which is handy if you’re traveling around Romania by rail. There aren’t many restaurants right nearby, and most of the interesting places are a ride away. The centre is walkable if you’re up for the distance, or just a short Uber or Bolt ride. Still, it’s a great Bucharest option.

The breakfast setup is pretty limited. You have to choose ahead whether you’re vegan, in which case you get baked vegetables, fruit and jams, not even cheese, or a meat eater, who gets cold cuts and bread with no vegetables. The restaurant downstairs is a highly rated steakhouse in Bucharest. My room was large and cozy, and the bathroom had been updated, with everything working perfectly. The hotel is in a renovated historic building near Gara de Nord, Bucharest’s main rail station, and the subway stop is right beside it. It’s especially convenient for Otopeni airport: the train is the best connection between the city and airport for speed and price, taking 20 minutes and costing Euro 1.5/ride. It’s usually fully booked because it offers the best value for money in the area, so booking ahead is a good idea.
